About Next Gen

In 2018, Mark and Duncan joined forces to establish the business, prompted by their recognition of a market need for ground mount solar frames. This innovative product served as the catalyst for naming the company 'Next Gen Renewables,' reflecting their foothold in the dynamic solar and renewables sector. Initially focusing on sales and construction of solar frames, the pair quickly garnered attention for their expertise in sheds, leading to an expansion of services within the construction industry.

Over the years, Next Gen Renewables has naturally evolved into a multifaceted enterprise, catering to a diverse range of products for their valued clients. This prompted the name change to Next Gen Building Co, to better reflect our current and future business ventures. Central to the team’s success is a steadfast commitment to delivering quality goods paired with dedicated customer service, a philosophy that has fuelled the growth of the business. Driven by a continuous influx of work, Mark, Duncan and the team remain devoted to embracing innovation, expanding horizons, and cultivating the growth of their construction projects.

Meet the team

Mark Vass

Director

Mark Vass, born and bred in the Burdekin, honed his skills as a Boilermaker after completing his trade in 2007. Over the next five years, he gained valuable experience in various sectors, including mining, construction, and consulting. However, it was in the field of construction and project management that Mark found his true passion, dedicating many years to working in this industry with a specialization in sheds.

In 2014, Mark made the decision to return to his agricultural roots and moved back to Home Hill to pursue farming. It was during this time that Mark, alongside Duncan, identified the growing demand for ground mount solar frames and decided to join forces and establish a business to address this need.

Duncan Kerr

Managing Director

Duncan Kerr, a proud Burdekin local, ventured to Townsville after graduating high school to pursue higher education at James Cook University. Attaining a Bachelor of Science degree, Duncan later found his calling in the construction field, initially specializing in concreting and shed erection. With two years of hands-on shed construction experience under his belt, Duncan smoothly transitioned into sales and project management within the industry.

Following four fruitful years in this dynamic role, Duncan felt drawn back to his roots in the Burdekin region, where he partnered with Mark to establish their business. Duncan's extensive background and expertise have played a pivotal role in the growth and success of Next Gen.
